Density and thickness by construction
Different sign sizes, depths and structural methods can require different board specifications. The quoted material should support routing, fasteners and the intended installation.
High-density urethane, or HDU, is a rigid sign board made for routing and dimensional exterior work. It holds carved detail without wood grain that can split or check, making it a strong material for business signs, community signs, monument faces, and specialty projects.

HDU is a smart choice for exterior routed signs that need crisp detail, dimensional carving, custom shapes, and dependable performance in changing weather.
We start with where the sign will be seen, how far away the viewer will be, what needs to read first, and how the finished sign will be mounted.

Thicker signs and dimensional builds may use layered material. Lamination, inserts and attachment points are planned as part of manufacturing.
Deep routed backgrounds create stronger dimension but add machine and finish labor. Letter size and border spacing must allow clean coating lines.
Posts, hanging hardware, wall fasteners or monument structures place different loads on the sign. Inserts and mounting preparation cannot be an afterthought.
We will help you compare shape, depth, material, finish, and mounting so the sign works for the property as well as the brand.
A one- or two-sided panel with recessed background, raised lettering and an optional carved texture.
Separate logo and letter components assembled over a routed or smooth base for greater depth.
Custom panels and dimensional elements manufactured to fit an existing or newly defined ground structure.
Logo-shaped, arched, round, shield or custom silhouette signs for businesses, farms and destination properties.
The name must be readable at the real viewing distance, the material must fit the exposure, and the construction must match the way the sign will be mounted.
Letter size, contrast, line count, and logo detail are planned for the actual viewing distance—not only for how the artwork looks on a screen.
Interior walls, exterior panels, roadside signs, and hanging signs need different materials, thicknesses, finishes, and mounting preparation.
You approve the spelling, dimensions, colors, layout, and major construction details before cutting and finishing begin.
The estimate explains whether it covers the sign face, posts, structure, hardware, delivery, permitting, electrical work, or installation so there are no vague assumptions.
Before production begins, we confirm the wording, size, layout, colors, material, mounting, and any installation or site work included.
We confirm exterior or interior use, viewing conditions, approximate size, number of faces and mounting concept.
The design is converted into routable geometry with appropriate letter size, border width, layers and color separations.
Material, thickness, dimensions, wording, colors, routed areas, dimensional parts and scope exclusions are documented.
HDU components are CNC-routed, laminated or assembled where specified, then prepared for finishing.
Primer and selected finish coatings are applied, the sign is checked against the proof and it is prepared for the agreed delivery method.
The price depends on size, material, thickness, number of sides, artwork preparation, routed detail, finish, mounting, installation, and permit needs.
Your estimate will clearly list the work, materials, selections, and responsibilities included in the price. Requested changes are discussed before additional work moves forward.
HDU signs are routed and finished through our Jasper shop. Local customers can work directly with us on the size, thickness, artwork, colors, and mounting plan.
We produce signs for businesses, communities, organizations, and property owners in Jasper and throughout North Georgia. Delivery and installation are quoted according to the project and location.
HDU means high-density urethane. It is a rigid sign board made for machining and dimensional sign fabrication; it is not soft upholstery foam.
HDU does not absorb and move with moisture the way wood grain can, but a finished sign still depends on correct construction, coating, mounting and maintenance. No exterior sign is maintenance-free forever.
It behaves differently rather than simply being “stronger.” HDU routes cleanly and resists grain-related splitting, while structural support and mounting must still be designed for the sign size and site.
A broad range of colors can be produced, with Sherwin-Williams references preferred when practical. Screen displays, sheen, substrate and lighting can affect final appearance.
The written limited warranty applies to eligible Urban Fresh manufactured and finished HDU work for the original customer. Customer measurements, spelling approvals, mounting, vandalism, impact and abnormal exposure are among the items controlled or excluded by the warranty terms.
Yes when the opening, attachment method and dimensions can be verified. Measurements you provide remain your responsibility unless local on-site measurement is included.
